This is part 2 of the rhythm Iba Oba. After the
initiation (pt 1), there is a celebration. In this
rhythm, the drums are calling everyone to dance and
celebrate the successful initiation. The last verse
says "Shoge" in Yoruba which literally means "Show
it!" meaning show your joy and dance!
This is a traditional Yoruba rhythm called "Iba
Oba". (Welcome to the King). Many people learn a
djembe rhythm called "Baba's Warm - Up". What most
people do not know is this rhythm is actually part
of a Yoruba initiation ritual and dance called "Iba
Oba."
Iba Oba
Dance!
